6 Tips To Make Swimsuit Season More Enjoyable

Are you ready for swimsuit season? The sun is shining and if you are like most people, you love summer and are ready to be out in it! The beautiful weather and the laid-back nature of the season are exciting… BUT the thought of shopping for and wearing a new bathing suit leaves you feeling extremely anxious.

Here are 6 tips to help you get yourself swimsuit ready:

Mindset

Stay positive! Positive thinking plays a significant role in your weight loss efforts. Negative thoughts can lead to self-defeating behaviors such as going off your diet, overeating and skipping your exercise routine. Positive thoughts, on the other hand, can increase your motivation and energy level, and help you pick out that perfect swimsuit.

Double up on Water

Stay hydrated! Not only will staying extra hydrated help your skin to have a healthy glow, it will also speed up your fat loss efforts. Most of us are walking around in a state of chronic dehydration, which contributes to fatigue, stubborn weight gain and constipation, as well as bloating. By drinking more water throughout the day, and by limiting your intake of caffeinated beverages, you’ll become healthier, and feel more radiant. Drink at least 8- 8 oz. glasses of water.

Sleeping

Catch ZZZZs! Sleep is like nutrition for the brain. Most people need between 7 and 9 hours each night. Get less than that, and your body will react in ways that lead even the most determined dieter straight to Krispy Kreme. Why? Because insufficient sleep impacts your hunger and fullness hormones. So, you’re more apt to hang on to fat.

Eat low Carb (after 4pm)

Portion control! One of the easiest ways to drop a few inches and decrease bloating around your waist is to eat low carb after 4pm each day. This means eating dinners that are focused on salads and vegetables rather than breads and pastas. If you simply have to have your oatmeal or whole grain bread each day, then eat it for breakfast or lunch and give low carb dinners a try.

Add five Minutes

Exercise! Each week, between now and your pool or beach debut, I want you to add 5 minutes to your workouts. Just five more minutes. The slight increase from week to week will hardly be noticeable, but the extra fat burn will pay off nicely. Use these extra five minutes to do intense bursts of exercise, such as burpees, squats, and walking lunges.

Eat more Veggies

Your mom was right! Eating vegetables really is a good idea. Why? First, veggies are low in calories and high in fiber, which means that you’re filling up without packing on pounds. Second, the vitamins and minerals in fresh vegetables nourish your body and cut down on cravings.
